ESI (Employees’ State Insurance) Registration in India step by step.
The Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme, managed by ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation), provides:
Medical benefits (hospitalization, medicine, treatment).
Sickness benefits (cash during medical leave).
Maternity benefits.
Disability & dependents’ benefits.
Employers and employees both contribute to the scheme, and it is mandatory for eligible establishments.
Establishments with 10 or more employees (in some states, 20).
Employees earning wages up to ₹21,000/month (₹25,000/month for disabled persons).
Employer Contribution: 3.25% of wages.
Employee Contribution: 0.75% of wages.

Receive confirmation email.
Login and fill employer registration (Form-01).
Provide:
Establishment details (type, PAN, address, nature of business).
Employer details (name, designation, identity proof).
Employee details (name, salary, joining date).
Upload all required documents in scanned format.
Initial advance contribution (for 6 months) must be paid online.
After verification, ESIC allots a 17-digit Registration Number → unique for the employer.
Employee Registration
Employer must register every eligible employee.
Each employee gets an ESIC Pehchan Card (smart card).
Monthly Contribution Filing
Employer uploads employee contribution details & pays online.
Due Date: 15th of the following month.
Returns Filing
Half-yearly returns must be filed (with details of employees & contributions).
