What is ESI?

The Employees’ State Insurance (ESI) scheme, managed by ESIC (Employees’ State Insurance Corporation), provides:

???? Step-by-Step ESI Registration Process

Step 1: Visit ESIC Portal

Step 2: Sign Up

  • Click Sign Up → Enter company details (name, email, phone).

  • Receive confirmation email.

Step 3: Employer Registration Form (Form-01)

  • Login and fill employer registration (Form-01).

  • Provide:

    • Establishment details (type, PAN, address, nature of business).

    • Employer details (name, designation, identity proof).

    • Employee details (name, salary, joining date).

Step 4: Upload Documents

  • Upload all required documents in scanned format.

Step 5: Payment of Advance Contribution

  • Initial advance contribution (for 6 months) must be paid online.

Step 6: Receive 17-Digit Registration Number

  • After verification, ESIC allots a 17-digit Registration Number → unique for the employer.


???? Post-Registration Compliance

  1. Employee Registration

    • Employer must register every eligible employee.

    • Each employee gets an ESIC Pehchan Card (smart card).

  2. Monthly Contribution Filing

    • Employer uploads employee contribution details & pays online.

    • Due Date: 15th of the following month.

  3. Returns Filing

    • Half-yearly returns must be filed (with details of employees & contributions).
